Main pros: A golf-course with a sophisticated design, in excellent condition and set in beautiful landscape
The 18-hole “Scottish Type” golf course is situated in Cihelny near Karlovy Vary in the Slavkovsky Forest Protected Landscape Area. Its picturesque natural surrounds, as well as its prime facilities, are captivating. The character of the course is rather technical, and at the same time of the highest level. Rather than with its length, it stands out with a number of water bodies and natural as well as designed obstacles.
The course was officially opened in 2001. It was designed by one of the best golfers in history – Gary Player – and the construction itself was was carried out by Gary Player Design Company.
In 2005, the course acquired the Best Course of the Year award from the prestigious Golf Digest C&S magazine. On the premises of the golf club, you will find a comfortable clubhouse, an excellent restaurant, a Pro-Shop, as well as a golf cart and a club hire. The resort offers accommodation in the stylish Retro Riverside hotel, which, moreover, offers facilities for corporate and social events.
The course in Cihelny hosted several top-level golf tournaments, such as the 24th European Boys Team Champ, PGA, Czech Golf Tour 2004, Czech International Amateur Championship 2007, Mid-amateur Tour, Audi Invitational, etc.
At the same time, recreational golfers can play here as well, and even amateur golfers, for whom one of the biggest training sites in Europe is prepared here. This site includes e.g. a Golf Academy with a 9-hole pitch&putt course, which takes the form of a “rose garden” and is accessible to the general public.
Qualified golf coaches available to golfers will adapt to the individual pace of each player.
The Astoria Golf Club Cihelny is the home course of a golf club bearing the same name.
