Kladska Settlement
Distance from Marianske Lazne: 8 km
A scenic village built in the style of Swiss mountain chalets lies at the heart of the Protected Landscape Area of Slavkovsky Forest at the edge of the Kladske raseliny (Kladska Peat) reserve – Taiga. The settlement is the starting point of the Kladska educational trail heading around the Kladsky Fishpond. Along the 1.2km route, visitors will get acquainted with the history, flora, and fauna of the Slavkovsky Forest. The trail is accessible to wheelchairs.
The settlement’s vicinity is ideal for hiking, biking, and fishing. Local restaurants serve venison specialities.
Kynzvart Chateau

The Kynzvart Chateau is famous in particular as the summer residence of the Austrian Foreign Minister and Chancellor von Metternich (1773-1859).
In the 17th century, a Baroque chateau was built on the site of a Renaissance fortress and later it underwent an Empire style reconstruction. The chateau has a vast chateau park, farm buildings, and a brewery.
The Kynzvart Chateau has recently gone through a complete reconstruction and its visitors can nowadays admire its truly beautiful interiors. The precious exhibits include for example the Chancellor’s library, which belongs among the most distinguished aristocratic libraries in the country. Another attraction is the cabinet of curiosities and articles of famous personalities, which the prince acquired during his long career.
Tepla Abbey

The Premonstrate Monastery was founded already in 1193. In the times of its greatest glory, it handled extensive property and had a great influence on the region’s affairs. The Monastery played a decisive role in founding Marianske Lazne.
The preserved original parts of the monastery represent a valuable example of the Romanesque-Gothic architecture. At the turn of the 17 and 18th centuries, the monastery underwent major Baroque adaptations. It boasts a gorgeous monastic library, the second biggest of its kind in the Czech Republic. More than 100,000 books can be found here, from these 1000 manuscripts.
Chodovar Brewery

The family brewery in Chodova Plana was built on medieval cellars cut in granite massif. The oldest written document regarding the brewery dates to 1573; the present-day buildings of the complex were built in 1862. The brewery offers its guests a tour of the brewing museum and a stylish restaurant located in the ancient cellars.
Loket Castle

The Loket Castle is a dominant feature of the ancient town of Loket. The town acquired its name for its location in a bend of the river Ohre, which naturally protected it in the Middle Ages. A town with a castle, river, and the surrounding forests form one of the most picturesque views in the Czech Republic.
The Loket Castle was founded in the 12 century and its history is full of tales of its conquest. Later on, the castle also served as prison. Lately it has been extensively reconstructed and, at present, it is open to visitors. The castle also contains a museum.
Becov nad Teplou Castle and Chateau

The townlet of Becov, the history of which dates back to the 13th century, is situated in the valley of the Tepla River. Its dominant is the compound of an originally Gothic castle and a Baroque chateau.
A genuine gem of the Becov Castle is the unique Romanesque St. Moor Reliquary dating back to the 13th centiry, one of the most valuable jewellery monuments in the Czech Republic. The story of the Reliquary is thrilling – it was deemed lost for a long time, to be found as late as in 1985 under the floor of the castle chapel. In the 1990's it was expensively reconstructed.
Karlovy Vary
Distance from Marianske Lazne: 43 km
World-famous spa situated in the picturesque valley of the Tepla River. Its wealth is primarily embodied by hot spring discharges, the most renowned one being the Thermal Spring with the temperature of 73 °C. The town was founded in the 14th and was named after the Czech King and Roman Emperor Charles IV, upon whose initiative the town was established, as the legend has it.
Every year, Karlovy Vary hosts the most important international film festival in Central and East Europe.
Tip: Take advantage of the Marianske Lazne – Karlovy Vary train connection. The route runs through the beautiful landscape of the Tepla River, the Tepelska Hills and the Slavkovsky Les.
Frantiskovy Lazne
Distance from Marianske Lazne: 36 km
Frantiskovy Lazne is the smallest spa in the famous West Bohemian spa triangle. Similarly to Karlovy Vary and Marianske Lazne, it boasts remarkable natural wealth, which takes the form of mineral springs.
The spa was established in 1793 and it has preserved its spa character with historic architecture and elegant parks till this day. Not far from Frantiskovy Lazne, you can visit the Soos Natural Reserve with an educational trail leading visitors through local mud volcanoes and bogs.
The historical centre of Cheb

The centre of the medieval town of Cheb is an urban conservation area. The Cheb Castle originating in the 12 century is one of the most beautiful Central European Romanesque monuments. Its Romanesque-Gothic Chapel is particularly unique.
A picturesque compound of medieval town houses named Spalicek dominating the Cheb Square became a symbol of the town.
Doubrava Open-Air Museum

The Doubrava Open-Air Museum comprises of a set of buildings presenting the typical folk architecture of half-timbered houses from the 18th century. The open-air museum features an exposition of agricultural tools, instruments, and furniture from the 18th and 20th centuries and a stylish restaurant.
The village features a horse-breeding farm with the greatest herd of Arabian thoroughbreds in the Czech Republic.
