Natural Gas
Mary’s gas, i.e. gas of volcanic origin containing 99.7% CO2, gave Marianske Lazne its name. There is no wonder because it rises only here and it was the very first local spring to be exploited. It is a set of dry stems dissolved in groundwater and thus enriching it with natural CO2. The gas itself has highly positive effects on the treatment of cardiovascular diseases and it s used for injection therapy as well as for dry gas baths. It rises from a peat basis and springs to the surface in the area of the Old Spa (Stare Lazne hotel). Today it is available in the Maria Spa hotel. More information on mineral gases.
Peat/Bog (Peloids)
There is no natural thermal mud in Marianske Lazne, and therefore peat, or bog, is used instead. I.e. another member of the peloid family. The peat substrate originates directly in this area and it is rich in organic and mineral substances. It is used for local compresses, packs, baths, and other procedures. It is beneficial for persons suffering from rheumatic and arthritic diseases and other disorders of the musculoskeletal system. Moreover, it improves blood circulation and mitigates cellulitis.
