Main pros: The non-traditional landscape character, a high-quality and demanding course for experienced golfers, high positioning of holes
The 18-hole Sokolov golf course, the generous area of which is over 100 hectares, is located in the vicinity of Sokolov, Brezova u Sokolova and Dolni Rychnov. It was constructed by Sokolovska uhelna a.s. on its lands within the project of land reclamation in areas after brown coal extraction. This resulted in the creation of a golf-course with a specific poeticism, connecting the beautiful nature of the Ore Mountains with the Slavkovsky Forest and the industrial scenery of the Vresova power station and the prefab blocks of flats in Sokolov.
The Sokolov course is full of visual contrasts, its design and quality rank among the top ones in the Czech Republic. The design was made by the renowned German company STÄDLER GOLF COURSES, which designed over 40 golf courses.
The course character is rather hilly and it has a relatively high elevation difference, nevertheless, most of the game runs pleasantly and on a flat ground. The holes are designed for a very precise game with frequent obstacles, many of which boasting beautiful vistas. The terrain character is demanding and it will definitely put your physical and psychological concert to test, as well as your precision and tactics. Therefore, the course is appropriate rather for more seasoned golfers, while occasional enthusiasts would probably find it hard. However, if you have already gained some experience, this hard nut is certainly worth cracking.
